Evolutionists cannot
account for the fact that modern science has proven that it is impossible for
life to have evolved from non-living matter, the very foundation on which their
theory rests. You may recall from your
high school biology class that Redi (1668), Spallanzani (1765), and Pasteur
(1862) proved that life does not come from non-living matter. Many people at that time, including the
scientific community, believed that maggots were spontaneously generated from
decaying meat. This belief was called
"spontaneous generation" and was disproved in experiments done by
these scientists (Miller & Levine, 1991). Their work is the basis of the established
Law of Biogenesis, which states that life only comes from life. Evolution teaches that life came from
lifeless matter in the form of one-celled organisms, which mutated over
billions of years into man. But
evolutionists cannot account for the 1.5 billion years of missing intermediary
fossil evidence, which is needed to support their belief.
Even Charles Darwin, the
father of modern evolution, made the fatal admission that he did not have the
evidence for his theory: "As by this theory innumerable transitional forms
must have existed, why do we not find them embedded in countless numbers in the
crust of the earth?" To the honest
heart, the answer to Darwin's question is surprisingly simple: "In the beginning God created...!" (Genesis 1:1 (written
1440-1400 B.C.)).
Genesis 1:24-25 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “Then God said, “Let the
earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things
and beasts of the earth after their kind”; and it was so. 25God made the beasts of the earth after
their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the
ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good.”
Spontaneous generation
(the emergence of life from nonliving matter) has never been observed. All observations have shown that life comes
only from existing life. This has been
observed so consistently it is called the law of biogenesis. This law has never been violated under
observation or experimentation (as evolution imagines). Therefore, life- God's life, created all
life.
The theory of evolution
conflicts with this scientific law when claiming that life came from nonliving
matter through natural processes.
Evolutionary scientists reluctantly accept the law of biogenesis. However, some say that future studies may
show how life could come from lifeless matter, despite virtually impossible
odds. Others are aware of just how
complex life is and the many failed and foolish attempts to explain how life
came from nonlife. They duck the
question by claiming that their theory of evolution doesn’t begin until the
first life somehow arose. Still others
say the first life was created, and then evolution occurred. All evolutionists recognize that, based on
scientific observations, life comes only from life.
Reproduction: The Bible states that
God Created life According to Kinds
Genesis 1:24 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “Then God said, “Let the
earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things
and beasts of the earth after their kind”; and it was so.”
The fact that God
distinguishes kinds, agrees with what scientists observe - namely that there
are horizontal genetic boundaries beyond which life cannot vary. Life produces after its own kind. Dogs produce dogs, cats produce cats, and
roses produce roses. Never have we
witnessed one kind changing into another kind as evolution supposes. There are truly natural limits to biological
change.
The Creation of Man (and Woman)
DNA
Three Bold Assertions:
1)
DNA is not merely a
molecule with a pattern; it is a code, a language, and an information storage
mechanism.
2)
All codes we know the
origin of are created by a conscious mind.
3)
Therefore, DNA was
designed by a mind, and language and information are proof of the action of a
Superintelligence.
Three thousand years ago, the Bible seems to
reference this written digital code.
During the 1950s, Watson and Crick were credited with discovering the
genetic blueprint for life.
Psalm 139:13-16 (written
1440-586 B.C.) * “For You formed my reins[1];
You wove me in my mother’s womb. 14 I
will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully[2]
and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works[3],
And my soul knows it very well. 15My
frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret[4],
And curiously worked[5]
in the depths[6]
of the earth; 16 Your eyes have seen my unformed[7]
substance[8]; And in Your book[9] were all written[10] which in continuance[11] were fashioned[12], When as yet there was not one of them.”
*For these three Scriptures, I obtained the interlinear text. See footnotes at the bottom for the underlined
numerals.
DNA was first identified
in the late 1860s by Swiss chemist Friedrich Miescher. Then, in the decades following Miescher's
discovery, other scientists--notably, Phoebus Levene and Erwin
Chargaff--carried out a series of research efforts that revealed additional
details about the DNA molecule, including its primary chemical components and
the ways in which they joined with one another.
Without the scientific foundation provided by these pioneers, Watson and Crick
may never have reached their groundbreaking conclusion of 1953: that the DNA
molecule exists in the form of a three-dimensional double helix.
Scientists have
discovered that regulation of gene expression, originally thought to occur only
in non-coding DNA sequences, is, in fact, additionally dual coded into the
actual sequence of DNA that defines protein composition. Transcription factors, which bind to specific
short sequences of DNA, regulate how the genes are expressed. The fact that these transcription factor
binding sequences overlap protein coding sequences, suggest that both sequences
were designed together, in order to optimize the efficiency of the DNA
code. As we learn more and more about
DNA structure and function, it is apparent that the code was not just hobbled
together by the trial and error method of natural selection, but that it was
specifically designed to provide optimal efficiency and function.
We are only beginning to probe the complexity of
the DNA molecule, the eye, the brain, and all the intricate components of
life. No human invention compares to the
marvelous wonders of God's creation.
Is God Real?
Science gives ample
reason to believe in God. Why is DNA
important?
British philosopher,
Dr. Antony Flew, has been a leading spokesperson for atheism, actively involved
in debate after debate. However,
scientific discoveries within the last 30 years brought him to a conclusion he
could not avoid. In a video interview in
December 2004 he stated, 2004 he stated, "Super-intelligence is the only
good explanation for the origin of life and the complexity of nature.” Prominent in his conclusion were the
discoveries of DNA. Here’s why:
[1]
ḵil·yō·ṯāy (in Hebrew),
means reins, inward parts, or kidneys (As the Hebrews believed
that the reins were the first part of the human fetus that is formed, it
may here mean, thou hast laid the foundation of my being.)
[8]
Substance or “golem” (in
Hebrew), means a fetus or embryo.
The instructions for the development of the fetus or embryo is
determined by the information in the scroll.
[9]
Your book or “sip̄·rə·ḵā" (in Hebrew), means a
decree or set of instructions that are written on a scroll
[10]
all [my members] were
written (comes from one word) “kathab” (in Hebrew), means information that
prescribes or directs. That is, the
various parts of the body are all prescribed in this scroll.
[11] “yā·mîm” (in Hebrew), in
continuance means “of time” or a specific or special period of time. That is the development of the embryo or body
over time, in its proper sequence, is also recorded in this scroll.
[12]
fashioned or “yuṣ·ṣā·rū”
(in Hebrew), means “that were ordained for me” or something that comes into
form according to a predetermined plan.
DNA in our cells is
very similar to an intricate computer program.
In the photo on the left, you see that a computer program is made up of
a series of ones and zeros (called binary code). The sequencing and ordering of these ones and
zeros is what makes the computer program work properly.
In the same way, DNA
is made up of four chemicals, abbreviated as letters A, T, G, and C. Much like the ones and zeros, these letters
are arranged in the human cell like this: CGTGTGACTCGCTCCTGAT and so on. The order in which they are arranged
instructs the cell’s actions.
What is amazing is
that within the tiny space in every cell in your body, this code is three
billion letters long!!
To grasp the amount of
DNA information in one cell, “a live reading of that code at a rate of three
letters per second would take thirty-one years, even if reading continued day
and night. Wait, there’s more.
It has been determined
that 99.9% of your DNA is similar to everyone’s genetic makeup. What is uniquely you comes in the fractional
difference in how those three billion letters are sequenced in your cells.
The U.S. government is
able to identify everyone in our country by the arrangement of a nine-digit
social security number. Yet, inside
every cell in you is a three-billion-lettered DNA structure that belongs only
to you. This code identifies you and
continually instructs your cells’ behavior.
You Can See Why DNA Is
Important
Dr. Francis Collins,
director of the Human Genome Project (that mapped the human DNA structure) said
that one can “think of DNA as an instructional script, a software program,
sitting in the nucleus of the cell.”
Perry Marshall, an
information specialist, comments on the implications of this. “There has never existed a computer program
that wasn’t designed… [whether it is] a
code, or a program, or a message given through a language, there is always an
intelligent mind behind it.”
Just as former atheist
Dr. Antony Flew questioned, it is legitimate to ask oneself regarding this
three billion letter code instructing the cell…who wrote this script? Who placed this working code, inside the
cell?
It’s like walking
along the beach and you see in the sand, “Mike loves Michelle.” You know the waves rolling up on the beach
didn’t form that-a person wrote that. It
is a precise message. It is clear communication. In the same way, the DNA structure is a
complex, three-billion-lettered script, informing and directing the cell’s
purpose.
How can one explain
this sophisticated messaging and coding residing in our cells?
On June 26, 2000,
President Clinton congratulated those who completed the human genome
sequencing. President Clinton said,
“Today we are learning the language in which God created life. We are gaining ever more awe for the
complexity, the beauty, the wonder of God’s most divine and sacred gift.” Dr. Francis Collins, director of the Human
Genome Project, followed Clinton to the podium stating, “It is humbling for me
and awe inspiring to realize that we have caught the first glimpse of our own
instruction book, previously known only to God.”
When looking at the
DNA structure within the human body, we cannot escape the presence of
intelligent (incredibly intelligent) design.
According to the Bible
(which is itself incredibly complex) God is not only the Author of our
existence, but He is the Relationship that makes our existence meaningful. All the intangibles in life that we
crave…enough strength for any situation, joy, wisdom, and knowing that we are
loved…God alone gives these to us as we listen to Him and trust Him. He is our greatest, reliable guide in
life. Just as he has engineered DNA to
instruct the cell, He offers to instruct us to make our lives function well,
for His glory and for our sake, because He loves us.
Why is DNA
important? It’s one more proof for
God. He designed our bodies. He can also be trusted to design your life. Have you ever begun a relationship with
God?
How DNA Proves God Made
All Creatures Great and Small
(Jeffrey, 2009)
Charles Darwin’s
theory of natural selection may be able to explain how living creatures can
evolve from one form to another, but it cannot explain how something that was
not alive evolved into the first life on Earth.
Stephen C. Meyer, a
Cambridge trained scholar in the philosophy of science, does have an
explanation for how life on Earth began: the DNA in every cell of every
creature shows unmistakable evidence of having been deliberately designed by an
intelligent being. Meyer lays out his
analysis in a new book, Signature in the Cell: DNA and the Evidence for
Intelligent Design. He discussed his
book and his case for an Intelligent Designer with CNSNews.com Editor in Chief
Terry Jeffrey.
Meyer: Well, I think
we’re looking at a distinctive hallmark of intelligent activity. Information, based on what we know from our
uniform and repeated experience, which is the basis of all scientific reasoning
about the past, always comes from an intelligent source. If you look at a hieroglyphic inscription or
a section of machine code, or a headline in a book or article, and you trace it
back to its ultimate source, it always comes back to a mind, not a material
process. So, when we look, when we see
that there’s
information embedded
in DNA, and we see that that information is necessary to the beginning of the
first life, I think what we’re seeing is that there must have been an intelligence
that was, that played a role in the origin of life. That’s the most logical thing to conclude.
Jeffrey: That designed
DNA?
Meyer: That designed
the information that is the source of the information of DNA. Jeffrey: At the beginning. Now, that doesn’t mean that after DNA was
designed and creatures were created, that things might not have evolved or gone
through natural selection.
Meyer: Yeah, exactly. As I say, there’s a debate about that, but my
book is arguing that, whatever you think about biological evolution, the origin
of the first life has not been explained by what’s called chemical evolution,
and instead, there is a cause that we know that’s sufficient to produce
information, and that cause is intelligence.
Jeffrey: Well, are
there scientists who contest that there is in fact information encoded in DNA.
Meyer: No. Well, there are some people that want to say,
“Well that’s just a metaphor.” But I
address that in the book. It turns out
that it really isn’t a metaphor, that Crick was right. His sequence hypothesis--that these
characters along the spine of DNA actually function like digital code. They are.
It is digital code.
Bill Gates says DNA is
like a software program, but much more complex than everything we’ve ever
written. Richard Dawkins acknowledges
that it’s a machine code. Leroy Hood, a
famous scientist out in Seattle, works in the biotech industry, calls it
digital code. This is pretty well
accepted. There’s only a few people that
have tried to quibble about that, and I address that in the book.
Jeffrey: To what
degree do you think that the scientific community basically agrees with you and
understands this point of view, and to what degree to they not agree with you?
Meyer: Well, as I
mentioned, there’s a lot of submerged, or suppressed, dissent about the whole
Darwinian synthesis, and the materialistic understanding of biological origins
generally. So we have I would say a
growing minority of scientists who are very sympathetic to intelligent design. I made a trip to Britain in the spring. I spoke at the city of Darwin’s birth to
commemorate his anniversary, and the day before the meeting we had, or the day
before the talk, we had a meeting a number of British scientists, full
professors of science, many very prominent British scientists have been following
our work on intelligent design, and they told us they were entirely on side.
Jeffrey: But do you
have tenured professors at major American universities who are looking into
this?
Meyer: Oh yeah, yeah. They’re in the minority view. But I think what’s really interesting about
the nature of the debate is the people who oppose us don’t do so because
there’s, for example, no one says, “We have a better explanation for the origin
of the first life.” What they do say
instead is, “Well, intelligent design isn’t science”--and they try to define
science in such a way to exclude consideration of the design hypothesis.
Jeffrey: Why would
people be upset if objective observation of the physical world pointed to a
Creator?
Meyer: Well, they may
hold a worldview that excludes the existence of a Creator, and they may hold it
very strongly. And for that reason, the
evidence that we’re pointing to and the argument that we’re developing--or that
I’m developing in this case--would be a challenge to what is, in essence, a
religious or quasi-religious perspective that people may hold, either
explicitly or kind of as a default way of looking at the world.
Jeffrey: So, actually,
you believe that some people, some of your critics, may start out with the
hypothesis: “There is no God, therefore there can’t be any design, therefore
I’m going to refute any argument that presents evidence that there is design.”
Meyer: Oh, I think
many do. Just as you may have people
that start out with the assumption that there is evidence of, or that there is
a God, and therefore they might welcome the kind argument I’m making.
We have this idea of
scientists as completely objective guys in white coats who just, you know, look
at the evidence and then the theory pops off the evidence and it’s just, it’s
obvious. But scientists have ideological
commitments, and those differ from scientist to scientist, and that’s one of
the reasons that you have controversy.
Jeffrey: Well, Dr.
Meyer, in a country that was founded on principle that all men are endowed by
their Creator with certain inalienable rights, where most people are in fact
believers in God and adherents to religion, why is it that we have so much
trouble in public schools even entertaining the idea that there is an
intelligent designer behind the creation of life on Earth?
Meyer: Well, there’s
an old saw that says that if the Indians, I mean the East Indian nation, is the
most religious country on Earth and the Swedes are the least, America is a
nation of Indians governed by Swedes. Our
elite culture has very much tapped into this materialistic worldview, the view
that the universe is eternal, self-existent.
Matter and energy are the fundamental explanatory principles. There is no God or purpose or objective moral
order, that sort of thing. But the common
culture is still much more sympathetic to a broadly theistic perspective. So, there’s, in a sense, a contest of ideas
within the culture. But many folks who
are in the law schools, the courts, the scientific world certainly hold this
materialistic worldview, and so the case for intelligent design being a
challenge to the idea that matter and energy are the whole show--we’re saying
that, no, there’s something else, and it’s called information, and information
always comes from a mind or intelligence--that’s a troubling argument to
someone that holds that view.
Man is “Fearfully and
Wonderfully Made"
Psalm 139:14 (written 1440-586 B.C.) “I will give thanks to You,
for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul
knows it very well.”
We are only beginning to probe the complexity of
the DNA molecule, the eye, the brain, and all the intricate components of
life. No human invention compares to the
marvelous wonders of God's creation.
Our bodies are made from
the Dust of the Ground
Genesis 2:7 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “Then the Lord God formed
man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and man became a living being.”
Genesis 3:19 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “By the sweat of your face,
you will eat bread, till you return to the ground, Because from it you were
taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
Scientists have discovered that the human body
is comprised of some 28 base and trace elements - all of which are found in the
earth.
God has Created all
Mankind from One Blood
Acts 17:26 (written approximately
64 A.D.) “and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all
the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries
of their habitation,”
Read Genesis 5 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) about
the Descendants of Adam.
Today researchers have discovered that we have
all descended from one gene pool. For
example, a 1995 study of a section of Y chromosomes from 38 men from different
ethnic groups around the world was consistent with the biblical teaching that
we all come from one man (Adam).
Life Begins at
Fertilization
Jeremiah 1:5 (written 627-585 B.C.) “Before I formed you in the
womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed
you a prophet to the nations.”
God declares that He knew us before we were
born. The biblical penalty for murdering
an unborn child was death.
Exodus 21:22-23 (written 1445-1405 B.C.) “If men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that
she gives birth prematurely, yet there is no injury, he shall surely be fined
as the woman’s husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide. 23 But
if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for
life,”
Today, it is an irrefutable biological fact that
the fertilized egg is truly an entire human being. Nothing will be added to the first cell
except nutrition and oxygen.
God Fashions and Knits
us Together in the Womb
Job 10:8-12 “‘Your hands fashioned and
made me altogether, and would You destroy me?
9 ‘Remember now, that You have made me as clay; and would You turn me
into dust again? 10 ‘Did You not pour me
out like milk and curdle me like cheese; 11 Clothe me with skin and flesh, and
knit me together with bones and sinews?
12 ‘You have granted me life and lovingkindness; and Your care has
preserved my spirit.”
Job 31:15 “Did not He who made me in
the womb make him, and the same one fashion us in the womb?”
Science was ignorant concerning embryonic
development until recently. Yet many
centuries ago, the Bible accurately described God making us an "intricate
unity" in the womb.
Reproduction Explained
Genesis 1:27-28 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “God created man in His own
image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created
them. 28 God blessed them; and God said
to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule
over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living
thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 2:24 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “For this reason a man
shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they
shall become one flesh.”
Mark 10:6-8 (written approximately 65A.D.) “But from the beginning of
creation, God made them male and female.
7 For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, 8 and the two
shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh.”
While evolution has no mechanism to explain how
male and female reproductive organs evolved at the same time, the Bible says
that from the beginning God made them male and female in order to propagate the
human race and animal kinds.
Circumcision on the
Eighth Day is Ideal
Genesis 17:12 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “And every male among you
who is eight days old shall be circumcised throughout your generations, a
servant who is born in the house or who is bought with money from any
foreigner, who is not of your descendants.”
Leviticus 12:3 (written 1405 B.C.) “On the eighth day the
flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.”
Luke 1:59 (written 58-65A.D.) “And it happened that on
the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to call
him Zacharias, after his father.”
Medical science has discovered that the blood
clotting chemical prothrombin peaks in a newborn on the eighth day. This is therefore the safest day to
circumcise a baby. How did Moses know?!
In 1935, Professor H. Dam proposed the name “vitamin K” for
the factor in foods which helped prevent hemorrhaging in baby chicks. We now know that vitamin K is responsible for
the production of prothrombin by the liver.
If vitamin K is deficient, there will be a prothrombin deficiency and
hemorrhaging may occur, since both vitamin K and prothrombin are necessary for
proper blood clotting. Oddly enough it
is only on the 5th through the 7th days of the newborn male’s life that vitamin
K begins to be produced. It is only on
the 8th day that the percentage of prothrombin climbs above 100% of
normal! The only day of the newborn that
the blood clotting element prothrombin is that high is day eight. The best day for surgical procedures like
circumcision is therefore day eight.
Now, is circumcision required? Of course not! Circumcision was commanded in the Old
Testament was simply to set apart God’s people from the world. Read the message in 1 Corinthians 7:17-20
(written 55 A.D.): “Only, as the Lord has assigned to each
one, as God has called each, in this manner let him walk. And so I direct in all the churches. 18Was any man called when he was already
circumcised? He is not to become
uncircumcised. Has anyone been called in
uncircumcision? He is not to be
circumcised. 19Circumcision is nothing,
and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the
commandments of God. 20Each man must
remain in that condition in which he was called.”
Life is More than Matter
and Energy
Genesis 2:7 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “Then the Lord God formed
man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and man became a living being.”
Job 12:7-10 “But now ask the beasts,
and let them teach you; and the birds of the heavens, and let them tell
you. 8 “Or speak to the earth, and let
it teach you; and let the fish of the sea declare to you. 9 “Who among all these does not know that the
hand of the Lord has done this, 10 In whose hand is the life of every living
thing, and the breath of all mankind?”
We know that if a creature is denied air it dies. Even though its body may be perfectly intact,
and air and energy are reintroduced to spark life, the body remains dead. Scripture agrees with the observable evidence
when it states that only God can give the breath of life. Life cannot be explained by raw materials,
time, and chance alone - as evolutionists would lead us to believe.
The Real You is Spirit
Numbers 16:22 (written 1444-1405 B.C.) “But they fell on their
faces and said, “O God7, God7 of the spirits of all flesh, when one man sins,
will You be angry with the entire congregation?”
Zechariah 12:1 (written 520-518 B.C.) “The burden of the word of
the Lord concerning Israel. Thus
declares the Lord who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the
earth, and forms the spirit of man within him,”
1 Samuel 16:7 (1043-1011 B.C.) “But the Lord said to
Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because
I have rejected him; for God7 sees not as man sees, for man
looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Personality is non-physical. For example, after a heart transplant the
recipient does not receive the donor's character. An amputee is not half the person he was
before losing his limbs. Our eternal
nature is spirit, heart, soul, and mind.
Human Conscience Understood
(Con means with and science
means knowledge.)
Romans 2:14-15 (written 56-58A.D.) “For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the
things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, 15 in
that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience
bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them,”
The Bible reveals that God has impressed His
moral law onto every human heart. We
know it is wrong to murder, lie, steal, etc.
Only the Bible explains that each human has a God-given knowledge of
right and wrong.
God has Given us the
Leaves of the Trees as Medicine
Ezekiel 47:12 (written 593-560 B.C.) “By the river on its bank,
on one side and on the other, will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither and their fruit
will not fail. They will bear every
month because their water flows from the sanctuary, and their fruit will be for
food and their leaves for healing.”
Revelation 22:2 (written 95-96A.D.) “…On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve
kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were
for the healing of the nations.”
Ancient cultures utilized many herbal
remedies. Today, modern medicine has
rediscovered what the Bible has said all along - there are healing compounds
found in plants.
Environmental Devastation of the Planet Foreseen
Revelation 11:18 (written 95-96A.D.) “And the nations were enraged, and Your
wrath came, and the time came for the dead to be judged, and the time to reward
Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your name,
the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”
Though evolution imagines that things should be getting
better, the Bible foresaw what is really occurring today: pollution,
destruction and corrupt dominion.
The Seed of a Plant Contains its Life
Genesis
1:11 (written 1440-1400 B.C.)
“Then
God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit
trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it
was so.”
Genesis 1:29
(written 1440-1400 B.C.) “Then
God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the
surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it
shall be food for you;”
As stated in the Book of Genesis, we now recognize that
inside the humble seed is life itself.
Within the seed is a tiny factory of amazing complexity. No scientist can build a synthetic seed and no
seed is simple!
Genetic Mixing of Different seeds Forbidden
Leviticus
19:19 (written 1405 B.C.) “‘You
are to keep My statutes. You shall not
breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two
kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed
together.”
Deuteronomy
22:9 (written 1405 B.C.) “You
shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, or all the produce of the
seed which you have sown and the increase of the vineyard will become defiled.”
The Bible warns against mixing seeds - as this will result
in an inferior or dangerous crop. There
is now growing evidence that unnatural, genetically engineered crops may be
harmful.
A Seed Must Die to Produce New Life
1
Corinthians 15:36-38 (written 55 A.D.) “You fool! That which you sow does not come to life
unless it dies; 37 and that which you sow, you do not sow the body which is to
be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or of something else. 38 But God gives it a body just as He wished,
and to each of the seeds a body of its own.”
John
12:23-24 (written 58-65A.D.) “And
Jesus *answered them, saying, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be
glorified. 24 Truly, truly, I say to
you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone;
but if it dies, it bears much fruit.”
In this verse is remarkable confirmation of two of the
fundamental concepts in biology: 1) Cells arise only from existing cells. 2) A grain must die to produce more grain. The fallen seed is surrounded by supporting
cells from the old body. These
supporting cells "give their lives" to provide nourishment to the
inner kernel. Once planted, this inner
kernel germinates resulting in much grain.
The order of creation agrees with true science (Genesis 1). Plants require sunlight, water, and minerals
in order to survive. In the first
chapter of Genesis we read that God created light first (v.3), then water (v.
6), then soil (v. 9), and then He created plant life (v. 11).
Pest Control
Leviticus
25:1-24 (written 1405 B.C.) (Please
refer to the NASB for the text.)
Farmers are plagued today with insects. Yet God gave a sure-fire remedy to control
pests centuries ago. Moses commanded
Israel to set aside one year in seven when no crops were raised. Insects winter in the stalks of last year's
harvest, hatch in the spring, and are perpetuated by laying eggs in the new
crop. If the crop is denied one year in
seven, the pests have nothing to subsist upon, and are thereby controlled.
Soil Conservation
Leviticus
23:22 (written 1405 B.C.) “‘When
you reap the harvest of your land, moreover, you shall not reap to the very
corners of your field nor gather the gleaning of your harvest; you are to leave
them for the needy and the alien. I am
the Lord your God.’”
Not only was the land to lay fallow every seventh year, but
God also instructed farmers to leave the gleanings when reaping their fields,
and not to reap the corners (sides) of their fields. This served several purposes: 1) Vital soil
minerals would be maintained. 2) The
hedge row would limit wind erosion. 3)
The poor could eat the gleanings. Today,
approximately four billion metric tons of soil are lost from U.S. crop lands
each year. Much of this soil depletion
could be avoided if God's commands were followed.
Origin of First Plants on Land: Bible Said It First
(Deem R. )
Skeptics have said that the biblical creation account fails,
since it claims that plants appeared before animals. Originally, the scientific evidence showed
that animals appeared within the oceans (during the Ediacaran period of the
late Precambrian, ~580 million years ago) before plants appeared on the land
(~450 million years ago). Did the Bible
get it wrong?
Beginning in 2009, scientists pushed back the probable
development of complex photosynthetic plants on land to ~850 million years ago
through the study of carbon isotope ratios in Precambrian rocks (Knauth & Kennedy, 2009). However, since the evidence was merely
isotopic in nature, the data was not completely definitive. However, in 2011, a study was published that
pushed back the date of the origin of photosynthetic eukaryotes on land to at
least one billion years ago, including fossil evidence of their existence (Strother,
Battison, Brasier, & Wellman, 2011). These organisms were different from the photosynthetic
cyanobacteria (prokaryotes) that had inhabited the planet since at least 3.5
billion years ago. These were true
multi-cellular eukaryotes. Although
algae-like, these organisms were much more complex than their prokaryotic
counterparts.
Skeptics like to say that the Bible is not testable, but
then go on to say that it gets the creation account wrong. One of the main points of contention was the
Bible's claim that land plants (day 3) were created before animals (day
5). Let's look at the Bible's account of
the creation of plants:
Genesis 1:11-13 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “Then God said, “Let the earth sprout
vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit
after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants
yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them,
after their kind; and God saw that it was good.
13 There was evening and there was morning, a third day.”
The English word translated "vegetation" in the
above passage comes from the Hebrew word deshe', which refers to small plants,
such as grasses and herbs. The other
word, ‛eśeb, translated "plants" is even more generic, referring to
any kind of green plant. Although the
passage refers to trees that bear fruit with seed, the term "seed" in
Hebrew refers to any kind of offspring, and not just the seeds of
angiosperms. The Bible's claim that
plants appeared on the land before animals has been mocked for decades, but now
appears to be true. The Bible predicts
that scientists will likely find evidence of more complex plants as they
examine more Precambrian rocks. Stay
tuned for future updates.
The Bible's creation account has been subject to much
derision due to apparent contradictions with the record of nature. However, recently discovered fossil evidence
shows that the Bible is correct in claiming that land plants appeared before
animals in the oceans. The recently
discovered evidence is a surprising confirmation of the biblical creation account
to secular scientists. However, as
believers, we should expect that scientists will find more evidence of even
more complex plant life as more Precambrian rocks are studied.
Olive Oil and Wine
Useful on Wounds
Luke 10:34 (written 58-65A.D.) “and came to him and
bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own
beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him.”
Jesus told of a Samaritan man, who when he came
upon a wounded traveler, he bandaged him - pouring upon his wounds olive oil
and wine.
Today we know that wine contains ethyl alcohol
and traces of methyl alcohol. Both are
good disinfectants. Olive oil is also a
good disinfectant, as well as a skin moisturizer, protector, and soothing
lotion. This is common knowledge to us
today. However, did you know that during
the Middle Ages and right up till the early 20th century, millions died because
they did not know to treat and protect open wounds?
Blood is the Source of
Life and Health
Leviticus 17:11 (written 1405 B.C.) “For the life of the flesh
is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for
your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’”
Leviticus
17:14 (written 1405 B.C.) 14 “For as for
the life of all flesh, its blood is identified with its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, ‘You
are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood;
whoever eats it shall be cut off.’”
During
George Washington’s day, the practice of blood-letting to treat various kinds
of illnesses was common. In fact, George
Washington died from this very treatment.
In 1830 A.D., Dr. Marshall Hall came out in strong opposition to this
practice. However, had any of the
doctors who practiced this treatment read these Bible verses, they would have
known that it could have fatal consequences.
Based on
some information I found on PBS.org, although the site has “retired” the pages,
[Blood-letting]…originated in the ancient civilizations of Egypt and Greece,
persisted through the Medieval, Renaissance, and Enlightenment periods,
flourished in Arabic and Indian medicine, and lasted through the second
Industrial Revolution. The practice
continued for 2,500 years until it was replaced by the techniques of modern
medicine.
Bloodletting
was based on an ancient system of physiology called "humoral
medicine.” Originated by the Greeks,
humoral medicine was based on the premise that the elements of the body
reflected those of the natural world; those natural elements included air,
water, earth, and fire. The Greeks
believed that the interplay of those elements affected all the forces of the
universe.
The
analogous bodily humors comprised phlegm, yellow bile, black bile, and
blood. Greek physicians maintained that
good health depended on maintaining a balance of the humors. In order to restore health, doctors would
drain "excess" humors by purging the digestive tract or draining
blood. The linguistic remnants of the
system of humors are with us today, in the words "bilious" and
"phlegmatic," for example.
Up until 120 years ago, sick people were "bled"
and many died as a result (e.g. George Washington). Today we know that healthy blood is necessary
to bring life-giving nutrients to every cell in the body. God declared that "the life of the flesh
is in the blood" long before science understood its function.
It wasn't
until well into the 19th century that people began to question the value of
bloodletting. Scientists such as Louis
Pasteur, Joseph Lister, and Robert Koch showed that germs, not humors, were
responsible for disease. Furthermore,
medical statisticians tracking case histories began to collect evidence that
bloodletting was not effective.
Eventually the practice died, although it continued in some parts of
rural America into the 1920s.
Phlebotomy is almost never used anymore, except for certain rare conditions. One is hemochromatosis, a genetic condition affecting 600,000 to 1,000,000 Americans in which the body stores too much iron. One way to treat this is to periodically drain some of their iron-rich blood, which restores the mineral's proper balance.

Laughter Promotes
Physical Healing
Proverbs 17:22 (Written 950-700 B.C.) “A joyful heart is good
medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.”
Recent studies confirm what King Solomon was
inspired to write 3,000 years ago, "A merry heart does good, like
medicine.” In the past 10-50 years,
scientists discovered that laughter indeed promotes physical healing. For instance, laughter reduces levels of
certain stress hormones. This brings
balance to the immune system, which helps your body fight off disease.
Intense Sorrow or Stress
is Harmful to your Health
Proverbs 18:14 (Written 950-700 B.C.) “The spirit of a man can
endure his sickness, But as for a broken spirit who can bear it?”
Mark 14:34 (written approximately 65A.D.) “And He *said to them, “My
soul is deeply grieved to the point of death; remain here and keep watch.”
Researchers have studied individuals with no
prior medical problems who showed symptoms of stress cardiomyopathy including
chest pain, difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, and even heart failure -
following a stressful incident.
Dietary
Laws
Leviticus 11:9-12 (written 1405 B.C.) “‘These you may eat, whatever
is in the water: all that have fins and scales, those in the water, in the seas
or in the rivers, you may eat. 10 But
whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales
among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures
that are in the water, they are detestable things to you, 11 and they shall be
abhorrent to you; you may not eat of their flesh, and their carcasses you shall
detest. 12 Whatever in the water does
not have fins and scales is abhorrent to you.”
Scripture states that we should avoid those sea
creatures which do not have fins or scales.
We now know that bottom-feeders, with no scales or fins, tend to consume
waste and are likely to carry disease.
The Bible Warns Against
Eating Birds of Prey
Leviticus 11:13-19 (written 1405 B.C.) “‘These, moreover, you
shall detest among the birds; they are abhorrent, not to be eaten: the eagle
and the vulture and the buzzard, 14 and the kite and the falcon in its kind, 15
every raven in its kind, 16 and the ostrich and the owl and the sea gull and
the hawk in its kind, 17 and the little owl and the cormorant and the great
owl, 18 and the white owl and the pelican and the carrion vulture, 19 and the
stork, the heron in its kinds, and the hoopoe, and the bat.”
Scientists now recognize that those birds which
eat carrion (putrefying flesh), often spread disease.
Microorganisms Anticipated
Exodus 22:31 (written 1445-1405 B.C.) “You shall be holy men to
Me, therefore you shall not eat any flesh torn to pieces in the field; you
shall throw it to the dogs.”
Leviticus 22:8 (written 1405 B.C.) “He shall not eat an animal
which dies or is torn by beasts, becoming unclean by it; I am the Lord.”
Microorganisms, or life forms not visible to the
naked eye, were first discovered by Anton van Leeuwenhoek in 1675 with the
invention of the microscope. Yet it
would take nearly 200 years for scientists to make the connection between
microbes and disease. Today we
understand that a decaying carcass is full of disease causing germs.
Avoid Swine
Deuteronomy 14:8 (written 1405 B.C.) “The pig, because it
divides the hoof but does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you. You shall not eat any of their flesh nor
touch their carcasses.”
Not so long ago, science learned that eating
undercooked pork causes an infection of parasites called trichinosis. Now consider this: the Bible forbid the
eating of swine more than 3,000 years before we learned how to cook pork
safely.
Do Rabbits Really “Chew the Cud”?
(Mitchell, 2012)
The Bible clearly states that rabbits chew their
cud, but simple observation seems to show this isn’t true.
The “Problem”
One of the most often cited “contradictions” in
the Bible involves the lowly rabbit.
Does the Bible actually indicate that rabbits “chew the cud”? And if this is what Scripture says, then
isn’t it in error?
Two places in the Bible include the hare among
animals that chew the cud.
Among the animals, whatever divides the hoof,
having cloven hooves and chewing the cud—that you may eat. Nevertheless these you shall not eat among
those that chew the cud or those that have cloven hooves: the camel, because it
chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is unclean to you; the rock
hyrax, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is unclean to
you; the hare, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is
unclean to you.
Leviticus 11:3–6 “Whatever divides a hoof,
thus making split hoofs, and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may
eat. 4 Nevertheless, you are not to eat
of these, among those which chew the cud, or among those which divide the hoof:
the camel, for though it chews cud, it does not divide the hoof, it is unclean
to you. 5 Likewise, the shaphan, for
though it chews cud, it does not divide the hoof, it is unclean to you; 6 the
rabbit also, for though it chews cud, it does not divide the hoof, it is
unclean to you;”
Nevertheless, of those that chew the cud or have
cloven hooves, you shall not eat, such as these: the camel, the hare, and the
rock hyrax; for they chew the cud but do not have cloven hooves; they are
unclean for you.
Deuteronomy 14:7 (written 1405 B.C.) “Nevertheless, you are not
to eat of these among those which chew the cud, or among those that divide the
hoof in two: the camel and the rabbit and the shaphan, for though they chew the
cud, they do not divide the hoof; they are unclean for you.”
In the modern scientific classification system,
animals that chew the cud are called ruminants.
Cattle, sheep, deer, giraffes, and camels2 are ruminants. Ruminants have four stomach
compartments. They swallow their food
into one stomach compartment where food is partially digested. Then the food is regurgitated back into the
mouth, chewed again, and then swallowed into a different stomach
compartment. This process is called
rumination.
So is the Bible wrong? After all, rabbits are not ruminants.3 They
do not have four-compartment stomachs.
How can they “chew the cud”?
The Solution
Obviously, rabbits do not share the digestive
anatomy of modern ruminants. However, to
describe rabbits chewing the cud is not incorrect. Simply stated, it is not reasonable to accuse
a 3500-year-old document of error because it does not adhere to a modern
man-made classification system.
Consider what rabbits do. They engage in an activity called
cecotrophy. Rabbits normally produce two
kinds of feces, the more common hard feces as well as softer fecal pellets called
cecotropes. Cecotropes are small pellets
of partially digested food that are passed through the animal but are then re-ingested. As part of the normal digestive process, some
partially digested food is concentrated in the cecum where it undergoes a
degree of fermentation to form these cecotropes. They are then covered in mucin and passed
through the anus. The rabbit ingests the
cecotropes, which serve as a very important source of nutrition for the animal.
Is this the same as cud? In the final analysis, it is. Cud-chewing completes the digestion of
partially digested food.
Why would it be strange to think that centuries
ago, the idea of “cud” had a somewhat broader meaning than a modern
definition? But does the rabbit actually
chew the cud? The Hebrew word translated
“chew” is the word ‘alah’. With any attempt
to translate one language to another, it is understood that there is often more
than one meaning for a given word. A
cursory glance at any Hebrew lexicon reveals that ‘alah’ can mean go up,
ascend, climb, go up into, out of a place, depart, rise up, cause to ascend,
bring up from, among others. Here it
carries the implication of moving something from one place to another. So the phrase translated to English as “chew
the cud” literally means something on the order of “eats that which is brought
forth again.”
Also, most reference material on rabbit
digestion says that the cecotrope pellet is swallowed whole and found intact in
the rabbit stomach. However, experts
have observed that rabbits keep the cecotrophe in the mouth for a time before
swallowing (Lockley, 1964). So even though the mucin membrane covering the
cecotrope is not broken, the rabbit is able to knead it in its mouth before
swallowing, possibly to enhance the process of redigestion.
Conclusion
So is the Bible in error here? No it is not.
Rabbits re-ingest partially digested foods, as do modern ruminants. They just do so without the aid of multiple
stomach compartments.
Do Not Consume Blood
Leviticus 17:12 (written 1405 B.C.) “Therefore I said to the
sons of Israel, ‘No person among you may eat blood, nor may any alien who
sojourns among you eat blood.”
A common ritual in many religions in the ancient
world was to drink blood. However, the
Creator repeatedly told His people to abstain from blood.
Genesis 9:4 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “Only you shall not eat
flesh with its life, that is, its blood.”
Leviticus 3:17 (written 1405 B.C.) “It is a perpetual statute
throughout your generations in all your dwellings: you shall not eat any fat or
any blood.”
Acts 15:20 (written approximately 64 A.D.) “but that we write to them
that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and
from what is strangled and from blood.”
Acts 21:25 (written approximately 64 A.D.) “But concerning the
Gentiles who have believed, we wrote, having decided that they should abstain
from meat sacrificed to idols and from blood and from what is strangled and
from fornication.”
Of course, modern science reveals that consuming
raw blood is dangerous.
The Bible Cautions against Consuming Fat
Leviticus 7:23 (written 1405 B.C.) “Speak to the sons of
Israel, saying, ‘You shall not eat any fat from an ox, a sheep or a goat.’”
Only in recent decades has the medical community
determined that fat clogs arteries and contributes to heart disease.
Are We Supposed to Eat Meat or be Vegetarian?
Romans 14 (written 56-58A.D.): Principles of
Conscience
“Now accept the one who is
weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his
opinions. 2 One person has faith that he
may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only. 3 The one who eats is not to regard with
contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge
the one who eats, for God has accepted him.
4 Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he
will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
5 One person regards one
day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his
own mind. 6 He who observes the day,
observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives
thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives
thanks to God. 7 For not one of us lives
for himself, and not one dies for himself; 8 for if we live, we live for the
Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we
are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ
died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.
10 But you, why do you
judge your brother? Or you again, why do
you regard your brother with contempt?
For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. 11 For it is written, “As I live, says the
Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall give praise to God.” 12 So then each one of us will give an
account of himself to God. 13 Therefore
let us not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this—not to put an
obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s way. 14 I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus
that nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything to be
unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 For if
because of food your brother is hurt, you are no longer walking according to
love. Do not destroy with your food him
for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do
not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil; 17 for the kingdom
of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the
Holy Spirit. 18 For he who in this way
serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. 19 So then we pursue the things which make
for peace and the building up of one another.
20 Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but they are
evil for the man who eats and gives offense.
21 It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by
which your brother stumbles. 22 The
faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in
what he approves. 23 But he who doubts
is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is
not from faith is sin.”
Safe Drinking Water
Leviticus 11:33-36 (written 1405 B.C.) “As for any earthenware
vessel into which one of them may fall, whatever is in it becomes unclean and
you shall break the vessel. 34 Any of
the food which may be eaten, on which water comes, shall become unclean, and
any liquid which may be drunk in every vessel shall become unclean. 35 Everything, moreover, on which part of
their carcass may fall becomes unclean; an oven or a stove shall be smashed;
they are unclean and shall continue as unclean to you. 36 Nevertheless a spring or a cistern
collecting water shall be clean, though the one who touches their carcass shall
be unclean.”
God forbade drinking from vessels or stagnant
water that had been contaminated by coming into contact with a dead
animal. It is only in the last 100 years
that medical science has learned that contaminated water can cause typhoid and
cholera.
When Dealing with Disease, Clothes and Body
Should be Washed under Running Water
Leviticus 15:13 (written 1405 B.C.) “…he shall then wash his
clothes and bathe his body in running water and will become clean.”
For centuries people naively washed in standing
water. Today we recognize the need to
wash away germs with fresh water.
Sanitation Industry Birthed
Deuteronomy 23:12-13 (written 1405 B.C.) “You shall also have a
place outside the camp and go out there, 13 and you shall have a spade among
your tools, and it shall be when you sit down outside, you shall dig with it
and shall turn to cover up your excrement.”
Some 3,500 years ago God commanded His people to
have a place outside the camp where they could relieve themselves. They were to each carry a shovel so that they
could dig a hole (latrine) and cover their waste. Up until World War I, more soldiers died from
disease than war because they did not isolate human waste.
Medical Quarantine
Instituted
Leviticus 13:45-46 (written 1405 B.C.) “As for the leper who has the
infection, his clothes shall be torn, and the hair of his head shall be
uncovered, and he shall cover his mustache and cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’
46 He shall remain unclean all the days during which he has the
infection; he is unclean. He shall live
alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.”
Numbers 5:1-4 (written 1444-1405 B.C.) “Then the Lord spoke to
Moses, saying, 2 “Command the sons of Israel that they send away from the camp
every leper and everyone having a discharge and everyone who is unclean because
of a dead person. 3 You shall send away
both male and female; you shall send them outside the camp so that they will
not defile their camp where I dwell in their midst.” 4 The sons of Israel did so and sent them
outside the camp; just as the Lord had spoken to Moses, thus the sons of Israel
did.”
Long before man understood the principles of
quarantine, God commanded the Israelites to isolate those with a contagious
disease until cured.
Pleasure is a Gift from God
Psalm 36:8 (written 1440-586 B.C.) “They drink their fill of
the abundance of Your house; and You give them to drink of the river of Your
delights.”
Evolution cannot explain pleasure - even the
most complex chemicals do not experience bliss.
However, in 1 Timothy 6:17 (written 62-66A.D.), we are told to “instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be
conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who
richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.”
Jesus, in the Garden of Gethsemane, Sweating
Blood?
Luke 22: 44 (written 58-65A.D.) “And being in agony He was
praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down
upon the ground.”
Hematohidrosis is a condition in which
capillary blood vessels that feed the sweat glands rupture, causing them to
exude blood, occurring under conditions of extreme physical or emotional
stress. Acute fear and intense mental
contemplation are the most frequent causes, as reported in six cases in men
condemned to execution, a case occurring during the London blitz, a case
involving fear of being raped, a case of fear of a storm while sailing, etc.
Animals Do Not Have a Conscience
Psalm 32:9 (written 1440-586 B.C.) “Do not be as the horse or
as the mule which have no understanding, Whose trappings include bit and bridle
to hold them in check, Otherwise they will not come near to you.”
A parrot can be taught to swear and blaspheme,
yet never feel conviction. Many animals
steal, but they do not experience guilt.
If man evolved from animals, where did our conscience come from? The Bible explains that man alone was created
as a moral being in God's image.
Joy and Gladness Understood
Acts 14:17 (written approximately 64 A.D.) “and yet He did not leave
Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from Heaven and
fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.”
Evolution cannot explain emotions. Matter and energy do not feel. Scripture explains that God places gladness
in our hearts.
Psalm 4:7 (written 1440-586 B.C.) “You have put gladness in my heart, more than when their grain and
new wine abound.”
and ultimate joy is found only in our Creator's
presence - Psalm 16:11 (written 1440-586 B.C.) “You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures
forever.”
Origin of Music Explained
Psalm 40:3 (written 1440-586 B.C.) “He put a new song in my
mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in
the Lord.”
Evolution cannot explain the origin of
music. The Bible says that every good
gift comes from God
James 1:17 (written 50-60A.D.) “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or
shifting shadow.”
This includes joyful melodies. God has given both man and angels the gift of
music-making
Genesis 4:21 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who
play the lyre and pipe.”
Ezekiel 28:13 (written 593-560 B.C.) “You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was
your covering: The ruby, the topaz and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx and the
jasper; The lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald; And the gold, the
workmanship of your settings and sockets, Was in you. On the day that you were created They were
prepared.”
Singing is Intended to Express Rejoicing in and
Worship of the Lord
Psalm 95:1-2 (written 1440-586 B.C.) “O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, Let
us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout
joyfully to Him with psalms.”
Beauty Understood
Genesis 1:31 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning,
the sixth day.”
Genesis 2:9
(written 1440-1400 B.C.) “Out of the ground the Lord God caused to grow every tree that is
pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of
the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”
Ecclesiastes 3:11 (written 935 B.C.) “He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet
so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning
even to the end.”
Matthew 6:28-30 (written 40-45 A.D.) “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow;
they do not toil nor do they spin, 29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in
all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the
field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He
not much more clothe you? You of little
faith!”
Beauty surrounds us: radiant sunsets, majestic
mountains, brightly colored flowers, glowing gems, soothing foliage,
brilliantly adorned birds, etc. Beauty
is a mystery to the evolutionist.
However, Scripture reveals that God creates beautiful things for our
benefit and His glory.
Love Explained
Matthew 22:37-40 (written 40-45A.D.) “And He said to him, “‘You
shall love the Lord your God15 with all your heart, and with all
your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38
This is the great and foremost commandment.
39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole
Law and the Prophets.”
1 John 4:7-12 (written 85-95A.D.) “Beloved, let us love one
another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows
God. 8 The one who does not love does
not know God, for God is love. 9 By this
the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son
into the world so that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God,
but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our
sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we
also ought to love one another. 12 No
one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His
love is perfected in us.”
Evolution cannot explain love. Yet, God's Word reveals that the very purpose
of our existence is to know and love God and our fellow man. God is love, and we were created in His image
to reflect His love.
Origin of the Major Language Groups Explained
Genesis 11 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “Now the whole earth used
the same language and the same words.
2 It came about as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in
the land of Shinar and settled there.
3 They said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and burn them
thoroughly.” And they used brick for
stone, and they used tar for mortar.
4 They said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower
whose top will reach into Heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name,
otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” 5 The Lord came down to see the city and
the tower which the sons of men had built.
6 The Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have
the same language. And this is what they
began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for
them. 7 Come, let Us go down and
there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another’s
speech.” 8 So the Lord scattered
them abroad from there over the face of the whole earth; and they stopped
building the city. 9 Therefore its
name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of the
whole earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of the
whole earth.”
After the rebellion at Babel, God scattered the
people by confounding the one language into many languages. Evolution teaches that we all evolved from a
common ancestor, yet offers no mechanism to explain the origin of the thousands
of diverse languages in existence today.
Justice Understood
Our God-given conscience reveals that all sin
will be judged.
Acts 17:30-31 (written approximately 64 A.D.) “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now
declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, 31 because He has
fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man
whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from
the dead.”
And the times of this ignorance God winked at
(overlooked) or tous chornous tēs agnoias hyperidōn; but now commandeth all men
everywhere to repent:
Down deep we know that He who created the eyes
sees every secret sin.
Romans 2:16 (written 56-58A.D.)
“on the day when, according to my
gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.”
He who formed our mind remembers our past
offense as if it just occurred. God has
declared that the penalty for sin is death.
Physical death comes first, then the second death - which is eternal
separation from God in the lake of fire.
Revelation 21:8 (written 95-96A.D.) “But for the cowardly and
unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and
idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire
and brimstone, which is the second death.”
God cannot lie.
Every sin will be judged. His
justice demands it. But God is also rich
in mercy to all who call upon His name.
He has made a way for justice to be served and mercy to be shown.
Genesis 3 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) -The Fall of
Man
Isaiah 24:5-6 (written 740-680 B.C.) “The earth is also polluted
by its inhabitants, for they transgressed laws, violated statutes, broke the
everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore,
a curse devours the earth, and those who live in it are held guilty. Therefore, the inhabitants of the earth are
burned, and few men are left.”
The earth is subject to misery, which appears at
odds with our wonderfully designed universe.
However, the Bible, not evolution, explains the origin of
suffering. When mankind rebelled against
God, the curse resulted - introducing affliction, pain and death into the
world.
The Solution to
Suffering
Revelation 21:4 (written 95-96A.D.) “and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will
no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or
pain; the first things have passed away.”
Neither evolution nor religion offers a solution
to suffering. But God offers Heaven as a
gift to all who trust in His Son.
All eventually die in the flesh.
Romans 8:13 (written 56-58A.D.) “for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but
if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”
Does that mean that when we die “in the flesh” we
cease to be conscious? No! Death
is not a cessation of consciousness, but rather the physicality of this
dimension.
Romans 6:23 (written 56-58A.D.) “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
The Bible alone explains why we die:
Ezekiel 18:20 (written 593-560 B.C.) “The person who sins will die.
The son will not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity, nor will
the father bear the punishment for the son’s iniquity; the righteousness of the
righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon
himself.”
No one will be able to “vouch” for us when we
are standing before the Judge. We must
answer for ourselves and give cause to how faithful we were with our time,
talents, and treasures.
Sin is transgression of God's Law. To see if you will die, please review God's
Ten Commandments:
Exodus 20 (written 1445-1405 B.C.) Then “God spoke all these words, saying, 2 “I am the Lord your God, who
brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 3 “You shall have no other gods before Me. 4
“You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in Heaven
above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not worship them or serve them;
for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the
fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who
hate Me, 6 but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and
keep My commandments. 7 “You shall not
take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him
unpunished who takes His name in vain. 8
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day
is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your
son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your
sojourner who stays with you. 11 For in six
days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them,
and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and
made it holy. 12 “Honor your father and
your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your
God gives you. 13 “You shall not
murder. 14 “You shall not commit
adultery. 15 “You shall not steal. 16 “You shall not bear false witness against
your neighbor. 17 “You shall not covet
your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male
servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs
to your neighbor.” 18 All the people
perceived the thunder and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet
and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood
at a distance. 19 Then they said to
Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not God speak to us,
or we will die.” 20 Moses said to the
people, “Do not be afraid; for God has come in order to test you, and in order
that the fear of Him may remain with you, so that you may not sin.” 21 So the people stood at a distance, while
Moses approached the thick cloud where God was.
22 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel,
‘You yourselves have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven. 23 You shall not make other gods besides Me;
gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves. 24 You shall make an altar of earth for Me,
and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings,
your sheep and your oxen; in every place where I cause My name to be
remembered, I will come to you and bless you.
25 If you make an altar of stone for Me, you shall not build it of cut
stones, for if you wield your tool on it, you will profane it. 26 And you shall not go up by steps to My
altar, so that your nakedness will not be exposed on it.’”
Have you ever lied? (White lies and fibs count.) Ever stolen?
(Cheating on a test or taxes is stealing.) Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 (written 40-45A.D.)
“that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already
committed adultery with her in his heart.”
Have you ever looked upon someone else with
lust? Then you are an adulterer at
heart. Have you ever hated someone or
called someone a fool? If so, the Bible
says you are guilty of murder.
Matthew 5:21-22 (written 40-45A.D.) “You have heard that the ancients were told, ‘You shall not commit
murder’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.’ 22 But I say to you that everyone who is
angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to
his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be guilty before the supreme court;
and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.”
1 John 3:15 (written 85-95A.D.) “Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that
no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.”
Have you ever used your Creator's name (Lord,
God, Jesus, or Christ) in vain? This is
called blasphemy - and God hates it. If
you have broken these commandments at any time, then by your own admission, you
are a blasphemer, a murderer, an adulterer, a thief, and a liar at heart. And we have only looked at five of the Ten
Commandments. This is why we die.
Long Life Spans:
"Adam Lived 930 Years and Then He Died"
New Discoveries in the Biochemistry of Aging
Support the Biblical Record[1]
"Adam lived 930 years and then he died." The mere assertion that humans could live
more than 900 years-as Genesis 5:5 states-seems, for many people, nothing short
of absurdity. The mention of long life
spans in Genesis 5 hinders these people from openly exploring the Christian
faith. Unable to accept 900-year human
life spans, skeptics and others view the Bible as unreliable, a book of human
myth rather than divine revelation.
This skepticism towards the long life spans of Genesis 5 is
understandable. Tremendous advances have
been made and will continue to be made in medical science and technology to
conquer many dreaded diseases. The
Western world has widespread access to health services, and for most Americans,
nutrition is not a vital concern. And
yet, the average life span in the U.S. is less than 80 years.
Over the last century, human life expectancy has increased, but
only by a handful of years. In light of
these facts, how can the long life spans described in Genesis 5 conceivably be
true? Yet another stumbling block crops
up in Genesis 6:3, which declares that God intervened to shorten man's life
span from about 900 to 120 years. (For a
discussion on why God would have allowed man's long life span only to shorten
it later, see The Genesis Question by Hugh Ross.) Even though a maximum life expectancy of
about 120 years accords with current data, the abrupt shortening of human life
spans creates another hurdle for skeptics.
How can this dramatic change in human life spans be scientifically
rational?
Recent advances in the biochemistry of aging provide answers to
these seemingly intractable problems. Scientists
have uncovered several distinct biochemical mechanisms that either cause, or
are associated with, senescence (aging).
Even subtle changes in cellular chemistry can be responsible for aging,
and in some cases, can increase life expectancy by nearly 50%, (Campisi,
2000).
These discoveries point to a number of
possible ways that God could have allowed long life spans and then altered
human life expectancy- simply by "tweaking" human biochemistry. The recent progress of research in the
biochemistry of aging, along with the cosmic radiation caused by the Vela
supernova eruption, makes the long life spans of Genesis 5 and the decrease of
human life spans at the time of the Flood scientifically plausible (Ross, 2000).

Scientists search in
vain for the cure for aging and death.
Yet, the good news is that God, who is the source of all life, has made
a way to freely forgive us so that we may live forever with Him in Heaven.
Romans 5:8 (written 56-58A.D.) “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 3:16 (written 58-65A.D.) "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting
life"
God desires a loving, eternal relationship with
each person - free from sin, fear, and pain.
Therefore, He sent His Son to die as our substitute on the cross.
Romans 6:23 (written 56-58A.D.) "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord"
Jesus never sinned; therefore He alone qualified
to pay the penalty for our sins on the cross.
He died in our place. He then
rose from the grave defeating death. All
who turn from their sins and trust Him will be saved.
To repent and place your trust in Jesus Christ,
make Psalms 51 your prayer. Then read
your Bible daily, obeying what you read.
God will never let you down.
A Contrite Sinner’s
Prayer for Pardon
Psalms 51 (written 1440-586 B.C.) “Be gracious to me, O God,
according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion
blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me
thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions, And my sin is
ever before me. 4 Against You, You only,
I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified
when You speak And blameless when You judge.
5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother
conceived me. 6 Behold, You desire truth
in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know
wisdom. 7 Purify me with hyssop, and I
shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness, Let the
bones which You have broken rejoice. 9
Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And
renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11
Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from
me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your
salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners will be
converted to You. 14 Deliver me from
bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; Then my tongue will joyfully
sing of Your righteousness. 15 O Lord,
open my lips, That my mouth may declare Your praise. 16 For You do not delight in sacrifice,
otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. 18 By Your favor do good to Zion; Build the
walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then You will
delight in righteous sacrifices, In burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then young bulls will be offered on Your altar.”
Jesus of Nazareth
underwent Jewish and Roman trials, was flogged, and was sentenced to death by
crucifixion. The scourging produced deep
stripe-like lacerations and appreciable blood loss, and it probably set the
stage for hypovolemic shock, as evidenced by the fact that Jesus was too
weakened to carry the crossbar (patibulum) to Golgotha. At the site of crucifixion, his wrists were
nailed to the patibulum and, after the patibulum was lifted onto the upright
post (stipes), his feet were nailed to the stipes. The major pathophysiologic effect of crucifixion
was an interference with normal respirations.
Accordingly, death resulted primarily from hypovolemic shock and
exhaustion asphyxia. Jesus' death was
ensured by the thrust of a soldier's spear into his side. Modern medical interpretation of the
historical evidence indicates that Jesus was dead when taken down from the
cross.
WAS JESUS CHRIST REALLY DEAD?
"...because the
Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked
Pilate to have the legs broken (which causes death quickly) and the bodies
taken down. The soldiers therefore came
and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then
those of the other. But when they came
to Jesus and found that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus'
side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water"
John 19:31-35 (written 58-65A.D.) “Then the Jews, because it
was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on
the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs
might be broken, and that they might be taken away. 32 So the soldiers came, and broke the legs
of the first man and of the other who was crucified with Him; 33 but coming to
Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His
legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced
His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35 And he who has seen has testified, and his
testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also
may believe.”
"We are told on
eyewitness authority that ‘blood and water’ came out of the pierced side of
Jesus. The eyewitnesses clearly attached
great importance to this. Had Jesus been
alive when the spear pierced His side, strong spouts of blood would have
emerged with every heartbeat. Instead,
the observer noticed semi-solid dark red clot seeping out, distinct and
separate from the accompanying watery serum.
This is evidence of massive clotting of the blood in the main arteries,
and is exceptionally strong medical proof of death. It is all the more impressive to a
pathologist. The ‘blood and water’ from
the spear-thrust is proof positive that Jesus was already dead”.
“Pilate wondered if He was
dead by this time, and summoning the centurion, he questioned him as to whether
He was already dead. 45 And ascertaining
this from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. (of Arimathea)"
(Mark 15:44-45 (written approximately 65A.D.)).
That Christ was dead was
evident to these Roman soldiers who were very familiar with death and whose own
lives most likely depended on being correct in this matter.
Proteins or DNA?
Revelation 4:11 (written 95-96A.D.) “Worthy are You, our Lord
and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things,
and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”
For evolutionists, the
chicken or egg dilemma goes even deeper.
Chickens consist of proteins. The
code for each protein is contained in the DNA/RNA system. However, proteins are required in order to
manufacture DNA. So which came first:
proteins or DNA? The ONLY explanation is
that they were created together.
Chicken or Egg Dilemma Solved
Genesis 1:20-22 (written 1440-1400 B.C.) “Then God said, “Let the waters teem with swarms of living
creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the
heavens.” 21 God created the great sea
monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed
after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was
good. 22 God blessed them, saying, “Be
fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply
on the earth.”
Which came first, the
chicken or the egg? This question has
plagued philosophers for centuries. The
Bible states that God created birds with the ability to reproduce after their
kind. Therefore, the chicken was created
first with the ability to make eggs!
Yet, evolution has no solution for this dilemma.
